Website #4: digdugdiy.com

Image
digdugDIY is a guitar pedal maker / record label from Rochester, NY making some of the most interesting and colorful pedals as well as cassette tapes of hip hop beats. Their website is very 1980's inspired with flashing neon graphics, and their home button is pixel art from the classic arcade game Dig Dug. I like that their website matches the aesthetic of their pedals, which also have neon colors that catch the eye, as well as actual arcade buttons which control different sounds on the pedal which is very cool and a trend I've been seeing on more and more new pedals. Much like Analogman pedals, digdugDIY products are extremely limited edition and often sell out within hours of being listed for sale online. Overall I really like this website, I feel it does a great job catching the eye and is fun to navigate. Rating 9/10

Website #3: BuyAnalogman.com

I have mixed feelings about this website. I think it is both a good site and a bad site for different reasons. First, I must say that Analogman is one of the most respected and legendary of all guitar pedal builders, started by Mike Piera in the 1990's as one of the first "boutique" guitar pedal makers. Mike's incredible attention to the smallest details, like seeking out military-grade new-old-stock germanium transistors in order to get the best sound, is probably second to none in terms of being very meticulous with every single guitar pedal. Analogman pedals are used by countless famous musicians, and command absurdly high prices when being re-sold on eBay and other online marketplaces. However with all that being said, I really think the Analogman website could use some updating. My main complaint is that the site has such an archaic look to it, with many of the pages being literally just a white background and black text. There is so much useful infor...

Website #2: DrScientist.ca

Image
Dr. Scientist is a guitar pedal company out of Okanagan Valley in Canada, and they are one of the most exciting new pedal makers in the industry right now. They recently released their Atmosphere reverb pedal which was incredibly well received. I really like how creative their website is. When you first load the page you are greeted with an image of a rocket ship about to take off and a countdown timer. When the timer reaches zero, you are then able to scroll up the page, and the rocket takes off into space as you scroll higher and higher up the page. The background images of planets and stars are constantly changing and visually engaging, along with some text thrown in here and there which provides information about the company and their products. Although the site has an old school 1990's look to it, I like this style they've gone with as it has a cool retro vibe to it which compliments the look of the guitar pedals. However, my only critique is I could see how this lay...

Website #1: Reverb.com

Reverb.com is possibly my favorite website ever! It is one of the biggest online market places right now for buying and selling all things music gear. Think of it as being like an eBay or a Craigslist, but exclusively for musical instruments and accessories. I like Reverb because their layout is easy to use and you can customize your feed to show only the items you're  interested in. Also, Reverb is a great platform for smaller companies / builders to sell their products to people all over the world. I have discovered some awesome companies through Reverb that I never would have known about otherwise like Lamp Electric and Tonefield guitar pedals. This website gets a 10/10 from me.

First Post

Hi Everyone! Welcome to my blog which I have decided to call Mostly Guitar Stuff, since my main hobby is playing guitar and building effects pedals for guitar. For my website reviews I thought I could start by reviewing the sites of some guitar pedal companies that I like, or sites that I think could use some improvement.
